ABOUT ME…
Since 1995, I have collaborated with world class architects, designers, engineers and craftsmen to deliver high-end custom residential and commercial interiors in New York City as well as Chicago, San Francisco, Beverly Hills and Honolulu. As a project manager and construction executive, I have coordinated over $300 million in construction work which includes townhouse renovations, apartment remodeling work and luxury brand retail build-outs.
Born in New York City and raised in Fort Lee, New Jersey, my appreciation for the art of construction began when I first helped my dad with small renovation projects around the house. In elementary school, I was exposed to one of the first commercially available personal computers, a Commodore 64 and thought I would go to college for Computer Science. However, after taking a mechanical drawing class in high school, I decided to pursue studies in architectural design and history. After graduating from Penn State University I started my construction management career with Bauhaus Construction in 1995 as an assistant project manager and within a year was coordinating and supervising my own projects. I just loved working in New York City and organizing all of the resources needed to produce a high-quality project.
Working with discerning clientele and many of the best designers and architects in the industry, I developed a solid reputation for delivering on high quality, team leadership and consistent communication. In 2000 I started my own general contracting and construction management company, Integrative Construction Inc. (ICI), which focused on high end residential and retail renovation interiors. In 2004, I decided to close up shop and joined Integrity Contracting Inc. (ICI as well, a weird coincidence) and further developed my skills as a project manager, an eye for craftsmanship and detail, and a thorough understanding of construction logistics and sequencing.
In 2010, I founded e-commerce label Industry Portage Co. as a designer and producer of work and travel bags as well as starting RenovatingNYC.com, a blog-based site providing information, inspiration, and guidance for those taking on renovation or remodeling projects in New York City.
In August of 2015, my family and I sold our house inWyckoff, NJ along with most of our belongings and moved to Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. There I established Diaz Group International s.r.l. to provide project management services to Gold Coast area clients.
I am proud to be bilingual, thanks to my Colombian parents. I am passionate about high quality , hard work and integrity in everything I do as well as everything that surrounds me. I am an active advocate and supporter for the arts, early childhood education, the global human right to access clean drinking water, and environmental responsibility. My superpowers are communication, logistics, and nourishing cooperation.
